About me

Hi, I'm Sanket - born under the sunny skies of Pune, raised on Misal and curiosity, and currently doing a PhD on Pulsar Emission Mechanisms at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland. By day, I study dead stars that won't stop spinning (aka pulsars).

As any pulsar enthusiast says this occasionally - Pulsars are rapidly rotating, highly magnetized neutron stars, I am not an exception. The origin of the signal that we observe is hidden within the magnetosphere of pulsars. Sadly, observing the light from these lighthouses is the only way out for astronomers and to understand what exactly is happening near these stars. The mechanism which drives this emission is still not clearly understood and debated. Many enthusiasts have tried decoding this mystery with their pen, paper, telescopes and computers - but none of them fully understood this big cosmic toy.

This website is my corner of the multiverse - a place to collect my work, projects, and odd sparks of creativity. You'll probably find me sketching ideas, tinkering with designs, or wondering if there's a Marathi word for “Gaussian process.” (There isn't. Yet.)

Pulsar Emission Widths

This project focuses on developing a Gaussian Process based algorithm to estimate pulsar emission widths across 1200+ pulsars.

The ON-pulse region is determined using a statistical thresholding approach (kneedle algorithm applied to the CDF of the GP mean).
